TCD Training Project in Kasese, Uganda
Equipping 205 grassroots community champions to lead self-reliant transformation and break generational cycles of extreme poverty.
Equipping Rural Leaders for Village Transformation
In Western Uganda, millions of rural families remain trapped in intergenerational poverty. Traditional charity models frequently create dependency by giving short-term handouts that collapse the moment external funding dries up.
Our charity, Community Transformation Trust (CTT), in partnership with Global Hope Network International (GHNI), is championing a proven, sustainable alternative: Transformational Community Development (TCD).
What is Transformational Community Development (TCD)?
TCD is an empowerment model designed to help villages break free from extreme poverty permanently. Rather than providing short-term aid, TCD coaches local leaders to form sustainable committees across five critical areas: water, food, wellness, education, and income.
Local villagers identify their own challenges, co-invest their own resources (time, talent, and energy), and execute solutions. Villager ownership is central to TCD, ensuring communities become fully self-reliant and self-sustaining over a 3-to-5-year transformation journey.
Proven Track Record & Tangible Seed Capital
In December 2025, CTT funded the initial pilot training for 115 women farmers in Kinyamaseke. The results were extraordinary.
Graduates formed active Village Development Committees, started vegetable cooperatives, improved household sanitation, and launched a revolving goat livestock program where initial offspring are passed on to bless neighbouring families. The November 2026 training deepens this momentum and expands it to new participants, including 80 young mothers in Kasese District.
Village Committees
Active committees formed across 18 villages to spearhead local solutions and resolve community challenges collaboratively.
Vegetable Cooperatives
Graduates launched collective farming plots, improving nutrition and generating surplus income through commercial produce.
Revolving Goat Program
Graduates received initial livestock, with the first female offspring passed on to bless and empower another local family.
Sanitation & Health
Villagers constructed model VIP latrines and implemented clean water habits, drastically reducing waterborne illnesses.
The Next Training: November 2026 — Training 205 Community Champions
In November 2026, the TCD team will conduct two intensive, four-day residential training cohorts in Kasese District, equipping 205 selected grassroots leaders:
Kasese Town Cohort (KIYOSIMA)
Focusing on young single mothers and emerging community leaders from the Kasese Young Single Mothers Association (KIYOSIMA). The curriculum builds sustainable livelihood skills, practical enterprise, and establishes village transformation committees to lead their peers out of poverty.
Kinyamaseke Cohort (MUWOFA)
Includes 115 rural women farmer leaders representing 18 villages advancing into second-tier leadership and community governance, plus 10 board members observing from Act for the Poor Association (Kagadi District) to evaluate expanding the TCD model into their region.
World-Class International Training Facilitators
